Pokémon Ability

Flash Fire

Powers up the Pokémon's Fire-type moves if it's hit by one.

In-depth effect

Activates when user is hit by a damaging Fire-type move (including Fire-type Hidden Power). Once activated, users Fire-type moves deal 1.5 times damage. While this ability is in effect, this Pokmon is immune to damage from Fire-type attacks and Fire-type Hidden Power (accuracy and effect from these moves are ignored). For Fire-type Pokmon with this ability, Will-O-Wisp activates this ability without having an effect. If a non-Fire-type Pokmon has this ability, Will-O-Wisp will activate the ability and will have an effect.

About the Flash Fire ability

Flash Fire is one of 112+ abilities in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Each Pokémon has one active ability at a time, drawn from a list of 1-3 possible abilities per species (the third slot, when present, is the Hidden Ability — only accessible via Tera raids, Mass Outbreaks, or Ability Patch).

How to get a Pokémon with Flash Fire

If Flash Fire is a regular ability (not Hidden Ability), simply catch the Pokémon and it has a 50% chance per slot of having Flash Fire. You can use an Ability Capsule (50 BP at Chansey Supply) to swap between regular ability slots. If Flash Fire is the Hidden Ability of one of the 3 Pokémon listed above, you'll need either:

  • To catch the Pokémon from a 5-star or 6-star Tera raid
  • To use an Ability Patch (consumable from picnic crafting / raid rewards) on a Pokémon that already has Flash Fire as a regular ability
  • To transfer a Pokémon with Hidden Ability via Pokémon HOME from older games
