How GO evolutions affect CP

Pokémon GO evolutions scale CP by a roughly fixed ratio per evolution line. For example:

  • Magikarp → Gyarados: ~3.0× CP
  • Eevee → Vaporeon/Jolteon/Flareon: ~1.7×
  • Charmander → Charmeleon: ~1.65×; Charmeleon → Charizard: ~1.45×
  • Mareep → Flaaffy: ~1.55×; Flaaffy → Ampharos: ~1.35×

IVs and level don't change on evolution — only base stats. So if your pre-evo has 15/15/15 IVs, the evolved form will also have 15/15/15 IVs (and the highest CP for that species).

How to use this

Enter your pre-evo's current CP, then enter the stat ratio for the evolution. Look up the ratio for your species on GamePress or Pokébattler. We'll give you the estimated post-evolution CP. Match it against league caps (1500 for Great League, 2500 for Ultra) to decide whether to evolve, power up, or release.
