How to use a speed tier chart
Find your Pokémon and the threat you want to outspeed. Take the threat's Spe stat at level 50, add 1, then use our EV calculator to find the minimum Speed EV investment needed to hit that benchmark.
Common Speed creeps
- Outspeed max-Spe Garchomp (157): 156 Spe stat → invest enough EVs to hit 157. On a base-100 Speed Pokémon, ~140 EVs Jolly.
- Outspeed Choice Scarf Heatran (180): Need 181+ Spe. Most non-Scarf Pokémon can't hit this without speed-boosting moves or items.
- Outspeed +1 Garchomp (after Dragon Dance): 235 Spe. Only Scarf or +2 Speed boosts reach this.
Booster Energy Speed math
Booster Energy gives +50% Speed (instead of +30% for other stats) when Quark Drive / Protosynthesis activates on a Pokémon with Speed as its highest base stat. So a Booster Speed Iron Bundle (base 136 → 220 Spe at 252 EV Timid level 100) becomes 330 Speed. That's faster than every Scarf user in the game except Scarf Regieleki.
