Master League fundamentals
Master League is the no-cap format — bring your best Pokémon, regardless of CP. The metagame is dominated by legendaries with strong stats: Mewtwo, Dialga, Giratina-Origin, Kyogre, Groudon, Zacian-Crowned. Lead with a Pokémon that has good defensive typing (Dialga, Solgaleo, Giratina) and finishes games with offensive specialists (Mewtwo, Kyogre).
Shields matter
Both players start with 2 shields. The "shield game" is more important than the moveset — knowing when to bait a shield with a low-energy charge move (Crunch from Tyranitar) vs. when to fire your nuke (Hydro Pump from Kyogre) often decides the match more than typing does.
Team composition
Standard Master League team: anti-meta lead + safe pivot + nuker. Example: Dialga (lead, walls common Fairy/Dragon) → Mewtwo (mid-game wallbreaker) → Kyogre (nuker for late-game). Use the in-game Battle Buddy to test compositions before climbing GO Battle League.
