Raid analysis
Mewtwo with Psystrike is the best Psychic-type raid attacker by a meaningful margin. Confusion + Psystrike DPS = 23.4 — beats Espeon, Latios, and Mega Alakazam (without Mega bonus). Use vs Fighting-type and Poison-type raid bosses (Machamp, Toxicroak, Tentacruel). Shadow Mewtwo with Psycho Cut + Shadow Ball is the highest-DPS Ghost attacker for Ghost raids — beats Chandelure and Mega Gengar in some scenarios.
PvP analysis
Mewtwo is top-5 Master League every season. Psycho Cut + Psystrike + Shadow Ball gives perfect coverage. Shadow Ball bypasses opposing Mewtwo mirrors. 2-shield: leads with Psystrike to bait, then Shadow Ball cleanup. In Master Premier (no Mythicals), regular Mewtwo is the format's MVP. Avoid Confusion in PvP — Psycho Cut's faster energy gen makes Psystrike land sooner.
Shadow Mewtwo
Shadow Mewtwo outperforms regular Mewtwo in PvP and raids by ~20% damage but loses bulk. Shadow Mewtwo with Frustration (must be removed via Elite TM) is unusable until upgraded. Get Shadow Ball as the second charged move — it doubles as Ghost and Mewtwo's PvP signature.
Best IVs to look for
Master League: 15/15/15 is mandatory. PvP-friendly trade-up: if you can get a Shadow Mewtwo with 10-12 IVs, the Shadow boost outweighs IV differences vs a hundo regular. Best raid IV: high Atk — defense matters less since Mewtwo's already glass-cannon.
Fast move data
Confusion — 20.3 DPS damage per second, 3.0 EPT energy per turn.
