How to evolve Eevee
Eevee has 8 possible evolutions, each requiring a different method:
- Vaporeon — Use a Water Stone - Jolteon — Use a Thunder Stone - Flareon — Use a Fire Stone - Espeon — Level up with maximum friendship during the day (4 AM – 7:59 PM) - Umbreon — Level up with maximum friendship at night (8 PM – 3:59 AM) - Leafeon — Use a Leaf Stone (Gen 8+) or level up near a Moss Rock (older gens) - Glaceon — Use an Ice Stone (Gen 8+) or level up near an Ice Rock (older gens) - Sylveon — Level up with a Fairy-type move learned and high friendship (Baby-Doll Eyes works — it's an Eevee starter move)
For friendship-based evolutions (Espeon, Umbreon, Sylveon), use the Rotom Phone friendship checker in Scarlet/Violet — Pokémon Center NPCs gave the readout in older games. Build friendship by walking with the Pokémon in Let's Go mode, leveling up, and using LUV-DISC items.
Where to find Eevee
Eevee is found in **South Province (Area Three)** and **East Province (Area Two)** in Scarlet/Violet. Spawn rate is moderate. In older games: Route 4 in HGSS, Route 10 in BW, Trophy Garden in DPP. Eevee is also gift-able from the Eevee NPC in many games (often as a starter alternative).
Is Vaporeon worth using?
Most Eeveelutions are UU-tier or lower. Sylveon (Fairy, Pixilate Hyper Voice) and Umbreon (Dark, defensive Wish-passer) are the most-used. Espeon with Magic Bounce reflects hazards but Calyrex-Shadow does it better. For competitive use, prioritize Sylveon or Umbreon over the other six.
Trivia
Eevee's name comes from 'evolution' (Eve), and Game Freak has hinted that more Eeveelutions may come in future generations (the franchise has been adding one per gen since Gen 2). The most popular fan-requested unreleased types are Dragon-type and Ghost-type Eeveelutions.
