How to evolve Machoke
Machoke evolves into Machamp (Fighting) via trade — one of the four classic Gen 1 trade evolutions (along with Kadabra/Alakazam, Graveler/Golem, Haunter/Gengar).
Linking Cord shortcut (Gen 8+): Use a Linking Cord on Machoke. Available in Scarlet/Violet at Delibird Presents for 5 BP.
Traditional trade: Standard trade-and-trade-back method.
Machamp has the iconic No Guard ability in Hidden Ability slot — guarantees that Dynamic Punch (100 BP + 100% confusion) never misses. This is the main reason competitive players want Machamp.
Where to find Machoke
**Machoke** evolves from **Machop** at level 28. Machop is found in **South Province (Area One/Two)** Asado Desert in Scarlet/Violet. Common in rocky/desert terrain. Sandwich + Encounter Power Fighting increases spawn rate.
Is Machamp worth using?
Machamp with No Guard + Dynamic Punch is the textbook 'never miss' attacker. Standard set: Dynamic Punch / Knock Off / Stone Edge / Bullet Punch with Choice Band. Iron Hands has largely replaced Machamp in OU due to better bulk + Drain Punch healing, but Machamp is still UU-tier and great for Trick Room teams.
Trivia
Machamp was the first Pokémon to have a Hidden Ability that became defining — No Guard turned the 100-BP / 50-acc move Dynamic Punch into a guaranteed nuke with guaranteed confusion. Machamp's trade-evolution + No Guard combo is considered the textbook example of Game Freak hiding power behind multiplayer requirements.
