How to evolve Sneasel
Sneasel has two possible evolutions depending on the form:
Regular Sneasel → Weavile (Dark/Ice) - Level up while holding a Razor Claw at night (8 PM – 3:59 AM) - The Razor Claw is consumed on evolution - Find Razor Claw in Glaseado Mountain (SV) or via the Cape Plaza NPC
Hisuian Sneasel → Sneasler (Fighting/Poison) - Level up while using a Razor Claw during the day (NOT at night) - Hisuian Sneasel is exclusive to Pokémon Legends: Arceus - Transferable to Scarlet/Violet via Pokémon HOME but cannot be obtained in SV directly
The key difference: regular Sneasel uses Razor Claw at NIGHT, Hisuian Sneasel uses Razor Claw during the DAY. Make sure to check your game clock before leveling up.
Where to find Sneasel
**Regular Sneasel** spawns in **Glaseado Mountain** (snowy areas) in Scarlet/Violet. Common around the Pokémon League Reception Gate. **Hisuian Sneasel** is only catchable in Pokémon Legends: Arceus (Crimson Mirelands, Cobalt Coastlands). Both can be transferred to SV via HOME.
Is Weavile worth using?
Weavile is one of the most-used UU/RU physical attackers — Dark/Ice STAB hits Dragon, Ghost, Psychic, and Grass for super-effective damage. Standard set: Triple Axel / Knock Off / Ice Shard / Swords Dance with Choice Band or Life Orb. Sneasler in PLA was a top pick; in SV it's RU-tier with Dire Claw poisoning targets.
Trivia
Weavile is the first dual-type Pokémon to be ranked in S-tier on Smogon (Gen 4 OU). Sneasler was the first Pokémon to have a regional evolution available in only one specific game (PLA) before being added to mainline. Both forms share the same base stats just redistributed.
