How to evolve Graveler
Graveler evolves into Golem (Rock/Ground) via trade — same mechanic as Haunter → Gengar.
Modern (Gen 8+) shortcut: Use a Linking Cord on Graveler. No actual trade needed. Available from Delibird Presents in SV for 5 BP.
Traditional method: Trade Graveler to another player; it evolves immediately on arrival. They can trade it back to you.
No level, no item, no moveset requirements. Pure trade mechanic.
Alolan Graveler → Alolan Golem (Rock/Electric): Same trade requirement. Alolan Graveler is found in Sun/Moon and transferable via HOME.
Where to find Graveler
**Graveler** evolves from **Geodude** at level 25. Catch Geodude in **South Province (Area One/Two)** rocky terrain — extremely common. Alternatively, find wild Graveler in caves at slightly higher levels. Alolan Geodude/Graveler require transfer from Gen 7 games.
Is Golem worth using?
Golem sees minimal competitive use — base 80 SpDef and 35 Speed make it a slow Stealth Rock setter that's outclassed by Tyranitar, Hippowdon, and Garganacl. Alolan Golem (Rock/Electric) is more niche with Galvanize converting Explosion into a STAB-boosted Electric move. Both are mainly used in NU/PU tiers or LC (Geodude/Alolan Geodude are LC staples).
Trivia
Golem's trade evolution requirement is a callback to the rock-passing tradition in some cultures. The Alolan form's redesign (with eyebrows and electric powers) was inspired by Easter Island Moai statues. Geodude is one of the few Pokémon to have a regional variant with a completely different secondary type (Ground vs Electric).
