How to evolve Magmar

Magmar evolves into Magmortar (Fire) when traded while holding a Magmarizer. Same mechanic as Electabuzz → Electivire.

Linking Cord shortcut: Give Magmar the Magmarizer, then use a Linking Cord in SV. No trade needed.

Where to find Magmarizer: - Scarlet/Violet: Random drop from defeated Magmar/Magmortar in the wild. Also at Delibird Presents (5 BP) post-story. - Older games: Held item on wild Magby (5% chance) or specific route pickups.

Magmarizer-evolved Magmortar gets significantly better stats than its pre-evo (495 vs 540 BST).

**Magmar** evolves from **Magby** at level 30. Magby is found in **Casseroya Lake** volcanic terrain in Scarlet/Violet — common spawn near hot springs. Magmar can also be caught directly at higher levels (30-50) in similar zones.

Magmortar is RU/PU-tier — Flame Body burns on contact, Vital Spirit prevents sleep, but base 83 Speed is mediocre. Standard set: Fire Blast / Thunderbolt / Focus Blast / Psychic with Choice Specs. Outclassed by Chandelure, Heatran, and Volcarona in higher tiers.
